Our client — a regional US bank with $4B in assets — was running a 15-year-old core banking system with no mobile presence. Customer churn was running at 30% annually, driven almost entirely by competitors offering superior digital experiences. Leadership had tried three previous digital initiatives, all abandoned due to integration complexity. They needed a partner who could deliver — not consult.
How We Solved It
We began with a 4-week discovery sprint, mapping all API surfaces of their legacy core and identifying the minimal integration points needed to support a modern mobile layer. Rather than ripping out the core, we wrapped it in a modern API gateway and built the digital front-end on Next.js and React Native. We shipped iOS and Android betas to 500 beta customers in month 5, gathered feedback, and launched publicly in month 6.
